Where we work

Plumbing service areas across western Queens, NY

Woodside is home, and most of what we do is within a few miles of the shop. That is not a marketing radius — it is the reason we can usually get to a flooded basement the same hour rather than the next day.

The neighbourhoods

Where our vans actually are

The core of the work is the ring of neighbourhoods around Woodside: Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Astoria, Long Island City, Maspeth, Corona, East Elmhurst, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Glendale. Flushing and Bayside are routine, and we take commercial contract work across the rest of Queens, into Brooklyn and into Manhattan.

Distance matters for one reason: response time. A burst pipe at eleven at night in February is a different proposition from Woodside than it is from Nassau County, and that is the whole argument for using somebody local rather than the largest name that advertises.

What we see where

The housing stock decides the work

  • Woodside and Sunnyside

Pre-war brick and frame two- and three-family houses with clay and cast iron house sewers, mature street trees over the front gardens, and finished basements sitting below the sewer line. This is root intrusion, backwater valve and repipe territory, and it is what we know best.

  • Jackson Heights and Elmhurst

Garden apartment co-ops and pre-war buildings with shared stacks and risers, plus a dense commercial strip of restaurants and shops where grease and floor drains are the recurring theme.

  • Astoria and Long Island City

The widest range: pre-war walk-ups next to new construction with modern manifold plumbing and booster sets. Two entirely different service problems within one block.

  • Maspeth, Middle Village and Glendale

More detached and semi-detached houses with basements, more straightforward drain and water heater work, and more of the sump pump and yard drainage problems that come with a bit more ground around the building.

  • Rego Park and Forest Hills

Large co-op buildings with central plant, booster pumps and long horizontal branch runs, where the interesting question is usually whether the board is ready to plan a riser replacement or would rather keep patching.

  • Corona, East Elmhurst and Ridgewood

Dense two- and three-family housing where per-unit shutoffs, separate metering and a properly vented kitchen are the three things owners most often wish had been done at the time.
